Meji Meji, pronounced /meh-gee meh-gee/, emerged from a vision ignited in the heart of adversity during the 2020 pandemic. Founder Tolu Oye pondered deeply: if the world were to end tomorrow, what legacy would she regret not pursuing? From this reflection, Meji Meji was born — a testament to courage, creativity, and unwavering faith. Tolu Oye, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), inherited her craft from her mother, a skilled fashion apprentice. Her upbringing steeped in Black culture, from vintage African-American styles to vibrant West African textiles and the rhythms of Juju music, profoundly influenced her creative journey. With Meji Meji, Tolu set out to weave a tapestry that honors and celebrates Nigerian heritage through the lens of Black identity. At Meji Meji, we are more than a brand; we are champions of women’s empowerment. We believe in the profound impact of fashion as a medium for personal and cultural expression. Each piece we create embodies a story — a testament to resilience, beauty, and the richness of our shared humanity. Our mission is to create a world where every narrative is not only acknowledged but celebrated, interwoven into the very fabric of our collective journey.Join us as we continue to craft garments that resonate beyond trends — pieces that speak to the soul and empower the wearer. Together, let us forge a future where diversity is cherished, creativity knows no bounds, and every individual feels seen and valued. Thank you for supporting our vision at Meji Meji.
